The East Bay’s Quiet Kept Secret
Welcome to the East Bay cities of El Cerrito, Richmond, Pinole, El Sobrante, Hercules, and Crockett. Walkable neighborhoods, backyards, public outdoor space, warm summers, and shops/restaurants/cafes……… Don’t tell everyone!!
Contra Costa County….which I affectionately call “CoCo County” (tongue-twister) is Alameda County’s suburban neighbor to the north-east & west. West CoCo County runs the Hwy 80 East corridor north to the Carquinez Bridge and Hwy 580 west toward the San Rafael Bridge. Home to the cities of El Cerrito, Richmond, San Pablo, Pinole, El.Sobrante, Hercules, Crockett, and Rodeo where larger homes and lower price per sq ft is common.
Why do people love West CoCo County? It’s a relaxed suburban living in the East Bay, north of Berkeley and the Bay Bridge. Parks and open spaces are plentiful with family-friendly intramural sports teams for youth and fitness options for adults. I particularly love Pt Richmond’s Miller/Knox Regional Shoreline and the Point Pinole Regional Shoreline.
Enjoy a touch of history at Rosie the Riveter WWII National Historical Park, meet your friends for a night of bowling at AMF Pinole Valley Lanes, or antiquing in Crockett, the original location of California and Hawaiian Sugar Refining Company (we all know as C&H Sugar). Community theater and arts venues, small independent movie theaters, and movie megaplexes offer fun weekend entertainment. Need to stock the fridge or grab a bite to eat? Lots of neighborhood “green-grocers”, larger grocery stores, national and family-owned restaurants, and cafes are always just a short drive away.
Commuters also appreciate the multiple public transportation options including the Richmond-to-SF Ferry, BART stations, and Express Bus service from and to everywhere.
West CoCo County’s mix of neighborhoods thriving commercial and community-focused businesses and activities make it clear why it’s The East Bay’s Quiet Kept Secret.
